This is all well and good—cute, instructive bunny and all—but have you seen the movie "Donnie Darko? " I'm obsessed with the movie, but there's this menacing, psychotic bunny in the movie named Frank: And it's hard for me not to look at the Magic C Bunny and not want to scream. But I digress. Actually, I digress a lot. I'm trying to quit. Sorry. I'm sorry, Magic C Bunny. You've helped my children a lot, and you didn't deserve that. The book really breaks down cursive handwriting, giving helpful (and fun) tips and keeping it decidedly UNintimidating. Clever, eh? The Handwriting Without Tears website offers a huge variety of products and resources for both educators and parents—workbooks, teacher's guides, mini chalkboards…and yes, even stuffed versions of the "Frank" bunny. Not to be a buzz kill, but I'm just going to be honest and say that I've never used anything but the teacher's guide (which, after you've used the program awhile, isn't even totally necessary) and the student workbook.

I would think at that stage kids need a lot more repetitive practicing than the space it provides. Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2016 Verified Purchase This is a great tool to use with children who are just learning or struggle with learning to write. We used this with my daughter and now are using it with our two youngest boys. One of my sons has a problem with hand eye coordination and doesn't write very well, but with this book it looks like we will be able to turn that around. In just a few weeks we have noticed an improvement in his writing style as well as retention. With my other son, he is just learning to write and this is helping him catch on quicker than I Imagined. The books are made of good quality and can stand up to use by young is a great tool! Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2016 Verified Purchase We use this book where I tutor (nationally known center). I bought it for my 5 year old granddaughter because I know how good it is. It starts with an activity to get children used to making lines they will later use in forming letters.

I highly recommend this book to teach your youngsters how to write. Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2019 Verified Purchase My daughter is turning four and she can write independently most letters and numbers with some challenges at certain, particularly lower case, letters. I bought this book because I noticed that she writes letters however she wants, not following the proper order, even though the final product looks fine and maybe even much better than other kids in her class. I think she has good pen control already and knows how each letter is but just needs a system to learn the proper way to "write" letters instead of just "draw" letters. We have just used a few pages but I have seen improvements. I do think this book fits exactly this purpose. Letters are broken into groups based on how they are written, not just in alphabetical order, and it teaches how to write them properly in a rectangle space. I would imagine that you will need more practice space, maybe a separate lined book, if your kid just started learning writing.
